Kinesiology alum heads to the Super Bowl

From the sidelines at Aggie Memorial Stadium to the sidelines at State Farm Stadium for the 2023 Super Bowl – Xochitl Alvarado, who graduated in 2021 with an athletic training degree, spent her Super Bowl Sunday on the sidelines with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Alvarado joined the Philadelphia Eagles Athletic Training Team in 2022, working her way from a summer intern to seasonal athletic trainer. Her clinical experience and education during her time at NMSU played a tremendous role in preparing her for where she is today.

“My program director Kim O’ Connell and clinical coordinator Michael Gregory always gave me the opportunity to grow as a student, whether it was by placing me at a unique clinical rotation or in the classroom,” Alvarado says. “My various clinical rotations as a student allowed me to apply my knowledge in different settings and be prepared to handle any adversity that I was faced with.”

Alvarado encourages other aspiring Aggies to always be sure to give 110% and remember to always be grateful for the opportunities and challenges.

“The plans that I had after graduation are not the ones that I am currently living, and I couldn’t be more grateful about taking the leap of faith because I am working my dream job. It is not an easy process but through hard work, determination, gratitude and faith it is always okay and worth it.”

Alvarado is heading into her second session with the Eagles in 2023, and will be graduating with her master’s degree from Pennsylvania Western University in December 2023.
