New CEO of NMSU Foundation HEST alumna

The NMSU Foundation named Sylvia Y. Acosta as its new CEO. Acosta is a proud native of El Paso, Texas, a child of migrant workers and a first-generation college graduate from the College of HEST.

“The education I received at NMSU has been the cornerstone of my career and personal growth,” says Acosta, who graduated with a Ph.D. in education in 2010. 

“The professors in my program inspired, guided and supported me on my journey. Now, I have the extraordinary privilege to give back—to support HEST and the entire university in realizing dreams, helping individuals achieve their goals, and unlocking the full potential of NMSU through alumni engagement and philanthropic support.” 

Acosta brings more than 25 years of management experience in nonprofit organizations. As CEO, Acosta provides visionary leadership that advances systemwide fundraising priorities.
